The road closures
did not detract from having 18 riders join forces to head off on the steady
steady changi ride. The vast majority never seemed to have turned right
at Mandai road. The initial nerves spiked into outlandish chatter amongst
the group.....or was that just Dave :)
The group rode superbly well, calls were made, everyone looked out for
each other and everyone having a go on the front at some point. Unfortunately
we did have a couple of punctures on route but the group enjoyed the impromptu
breaks using the time to refuel. The group also welcomed the break at
Changi village where we stopped for a short break.
I had the old fashioned GPS, with the directions from the group on how
to manoeuvre around the road closure so we were all set. Traffic was not
an issue, of course more than the usual Kranji route but a nice change
actually. The group descended upon coffee bean to find still some riders
enjoying their caffeine fix for the morning.
Thanks to everyone for a fabulous ride and see you all next week where
we will follow the normal changi route,
just to confuse you even more :) Reminder you can start from Rats
at 6am to add another 20-25km or join again from the Longhouse
at 7am for the steady steady changi. If you join both, it will be about
105-110km. And if discussions on the ride and at coffee bean are anything
to go by, we will have quite a group for the 180km ride on 26th.
Happy riding
Best Regards
